В предыдущем сообщении были показаны несколько примеров общего описания внешности. Сейчас я напишу, как подробнее рассказать о человеке, используя картотеку слов.
1) Maria has a colourless, youthful face, thin and sharp to look at about the cheeks and chin; large, grave, attentive eyes; nervous, uncertain lips; and light hair of a pale brownish-yellow hue. There is nothing wild, nothing immodest in her manner: it is quiet and self –controlled. Her voice has something curiously still and mechanical in its tones, and the utterance is remarkably rapid. Her figure is slender, graceful and rather above the medium height — her gait and actions free from the slightest approach to extravagance.
2) Mr Brown is not a young man , but he is not old. He is about forty-four years old. He is a good-looking man, tall, handsome, rather thin with dark-brown hair just beginning to grey. He is always well-dressed, but quietly, in good taste. He usually wears suits of dark brown, dark blue or dark grey.
He speaks quietly and pleasantly but there is strength under his quietness. He is quiet and pleasant because he is strong. Strength is generally quiet; weakness often is not.
3) When the child was three, his mother was forty years old. She was tall and straight, and her figure was graceful. She usually wore a simple black dress with a white collar round her neck.
Her hair was black and thick. She parted it down in the middle of the head and gathered it behind in a simple knot. She had a small nose and a brown eyes which sparkled when she laughed. She had small but strong hands which could do any work.
Это примеры более подробного описания внешности человека; в них можно добавить что-нибудь ещё или наоборот убрать. Всё зависит от того, что автор хочет рассказать о человеке.
Начинать надо с самого простого, например, сказать о возрасте росте и фигуре, потом можно сказать о волосах, глазах и т.д. Это очень “плодотворная” тема, так как нас всегда окружают люди, которых мы видим каждый день, так почему же не воспользоваться этим обстоятельством? Можно шаг за шагом описывать их внешность, с каждым днём добавляя всё больше “красок” в их описание, практикуясь и, одновременно совершенствуясь.
